Construction of the largest inland dry port has begun in Kazakhstan

Construction of the new Tobyl transport and logistics complex has officially begun in Kostanay. This is Kazakhstan's first and largest inland dry port located away from the state border, and will become a key logistics hub for the northern region.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev, Akim of the Kostanay Region Kumar Aksakalov, Head of the Industrial Development Fund JSC Rinat Gapparov, and management representatives of Kedentransservice JSC, Kia Qazaqstan, and Allur, reviewed the project's progress.

The Tobyl transport and logistics complex is being implemented in partnership with Kedentransservice JSC with the support of the Industrial Development Fund. The complex will cover a total area of 133.6 hectares and will have a capacity of up to 400,000 TEUs (twenty-foot containers) per year. The investment volume is 64 billion tenge.

The new complex fits seamlessly into the dynamic industrial growth of the Kostanay region, which is confidently establishing itself as one of the country's main industrial centers. A Kia plant with a capacity of 70,000 vehicles per year is planned to open here as early as 2025, along with a 220,000-unit auto component and assembly plant.

"We're not just building a logistics hub—we're laying a solid foundation for the country's new economic geography. Tobyl will become an intelligent platform that connects logistics, digitalization, education, and industry. It will foster new competencies, create new jobs, and create new meaning for young people. This is not a regional project, but a national one, a catalyst for growth for the entire country. It will strengthen Kazakhstan's position in global supply chains and open new horizons for businesses, investors, and people who want to grow and develop here, at home," noted Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev.

The complex will serve the China-Central Asia-Europe routes. This will boost the development of multimodal transportation, enhanced processing, and expanded exports.

"The head of state has set us the goal of establishing Kazakhstan as a logistics hub for Eurasia. We are starting with concrete actions. The Tobyl logistics complex will provide logistics support for the region's rapidly growing industry. Exports will increase, business costs will decrease, and new niches for investment and SMEs will emerge," emphasized Kumar Aksakalov, Akim (Governor) of the region.

The complex will house terminals, warehouses, customs clearance, service areas, and IT zones—all in one place. A digital, real-time cargo tracking system will be implemented.

"The new complex will create conditions for reducing logistics costs for businesses, developing export-oriented production, attracting new investment in the manufacturing sector, and fostering the emergence of new industrial enterprises." "We are confident that the Tobyl Transport and Logistics Complex will become a magnet for business and provide impetus for the region's further industrial development," noted Tobyl Transport and Logistics Complex Director Aidyn Alimov.
